The Norwegian Maritime Museum offers an engaging journey through over a thousand years of maritime history, combining education and excitement for visitors of all ages. Established in 1914, this museum is a beacon of Norway’s maritime heritage, preserving and showcasing artifacts and cultural monuments from the country’s coastal and underwater history.

Visitors can explore interactive exhibits that bring Norway’s seafaring past to life, learning about shipbuilding, oceanic voyages, and maritime culture. The museum's scenic location by the sea offers both indoor and outdoor adventures. In addition to its exhibitions, the museum actively conserves historic vessels, including the 1916 schooner Svanen and the Renaissance boat Vaaghals. For a true glimpse into Viking history, don’t miss the opportunity to see one of the original Viking boats from the Gokstad archaeological find, as well as the replica being built on-site.

Located in Bygdøynes, the museum is part of a cultural cluster with neighboring attractions such as the Fram Museum and Kon-Tiki Museum, making it a perfect destination for maritime enthusiasts and families alike.
